IN MY OWN WORDS
It has been said that those around you can have an impact on your personality and ambitions. Side-FX and the ''Creative Control'' album is a perfect example of this. When I first started making music I was only concerned with having fun and expressing my inner thoughts and feelings. The medium of music was a way for me to explore certain issues that would concern me. Music for me, is a creative release and a productive way to share ideas. It's a form of self discovery and expression.
I slowly started to develop my own style, inspired by the life of others around me and through my own personal experiences. I eventually reached a point where friends and family encouraged me to really make an effort and produce more music. This positive encouragement led me on the path to develop the Side-FX of today, and pushed me towards releasing my first ever full length album, attempting to find a balance between music that is upbeat with meaningful lyrics. My belief is that art and emotion can act together to provoke new thoughts and ideas, even if your interpretation and view point on life is different.
''Creative Control'' has been in production for almost two years now because I promised myself that if I made the commitment to do an album, it would have to be done right the first time. The main reason I decided on this approach was because of the positive comments I was getting about my music. On one hand it helped motivate me to make more quality music, but on the other hand the skeptical side of my personality thought otherwise leading me to second guess these comments. Sometimes I would wonder if they truly enjoyed my music, or if they simply wanted to make me feel good. Doubting myself, I came to the realization that the only way to find out for certain, was to create the best material possible and put it into an album. ''Creative Control'' is this album and is considered a project that I am proud of, and know that in years to come I can look back on it and confidently say that I did my absolute best! Of course with time, skills and ideas will develop further and exceed previous barriers, but even so, deep inside I know that this is truly my best effort at this point in time. So in a way, the compliments I received that encouraged me to move forward, also motivated me to be as meticulous as possible so as not to have to second guess myself. I want to thank everyone who has ever commented on my music, because without your influence ''Creative Control'' may have never materialized. This project is dedicated to all of you......YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE!
